Irwin County Middle School kicked off its first PBIS Celebration of the 2025–2026 school year with a high-energy PBIS Draft Party held in the school gym. The event celebrated students who have consistently demonstrated the ICMS PBIS expectations of being Responsible, Respectful, and Safe.

Students were greeted with the official Draft Pick Music as their names were called and they were “drafted” onto one of the three PBIS teams—Team Responsible, Team Respectful, or Team Safe. The celebration included a variety of fun, low-maintenance activities such as the PBIS Team Toss, Paper Football Challenge, and quick relay games that kept the energy high and the laughter rolling.

Throughout the event, students showed outstanding behavior, positive sportsmanship, and teamwork. Teachers and staff cheered on their teams, and everyone enjoyed the spirited, sports-themed atmosphere.

The ICMS PBIS Team would like to congratulate all students who earned their place in the PBIS Draft Party and remind everyone to continue being Responsible, Respectful, and Safe every day at Irwin County Middle School.

Irwin County Middle School celebrated students who achieved perfect attendance for the first nine weeks with a special visit from the Roll Call Cart — a mobile celebration filled with treats, cheers, and congratulations for showing up every day!

The cart, decked out in school spirit, featured a variety of fun and motivating items for students to choose from:

🍭 Candy – “You’re so sweet for showing up every day!”

✏️ Mechanical Pencils – “Stay sharp! Your attendance keeps your future bright!”

🍬 Gum – “You’re sticking with it! Keep showing up, and good things will stick too!”

The Roll Call Cart made its way through classrooms, spreading smiles and positive energy as teachers and staff congratulated students for their consistency and commitment. Perfect attendance is no small achievement, and ICMS is proud of these students for modeling what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe — both in the classroom and beyond.

👏 Congratulations to all of our ICMS Perfect Attendance students for the first nine weeks! Keep showing up, working hard, and being your best every day — because success starts with being present!

Mrs. Faulk’s 8th-grade ELA students kicked off their new horror unit in a chilling way—reading The Tell-Tale Heart by flashlight! The eerie atmosphere set the perfect stage for diving into suspense, tone, and mood while making literature come alive in the classroom.

Today, 8th grade science students participated in a lab that had students prove their knowledge of physical and chemical properties and changes. Students mixed phenol red with various
substances like sugar, baking soda, and calcium chloride and recorded their observations. In the end, students wrote a summary showing the indicators they saw of physical and chemical changes.

Today, in honor of 9/11, our students and staff were given a meaningful opportunity to connect with history.

This fire truck that was present at Ground Zero and aided in recovery efforts was brought to campus. Students were able to see this powerful piece of history up close and learn about the events of September 11, 2001, and the heroes who served our nation that day.

We are grateful for the chance to honor the memory of 9/11 and to help our students understand the importance of remembering this day in our nation’s history.
